Today’s trends break down into two main types of Asian-themed weddings: the Japanese or “Zen” style, which values simplicity and nature, and the more riotous Chinese style, which bristles with bright colors and shiny fabrics.

She may feel freed by a simpler wedding gown, and carry an unfussy bouquet of calla lilies. Her centerpieces might be lanterns surrounded by black and white stones. For favors, she might give out fortune cookies placed in take-out boxes and topped off with chopsticks.

Other brides find aspects of tradition stifling, so they mix up their ceremony with Chinese-style zest. This bride might dress her bridesmaids in glowing red (or slinky black!) Cheongsams, dresses with high collars and slit sides. She’ll hand them parasols instead of nosegays, and pass out chopsticks for their hair. Her own gown might be of gorgeous brocade in red, orange or gold. Perhaps she’ll wrap up the ceremony with a butterfly release and hand out lucky bamboo stalks as wedding favors. This bride doesn’t mind charting her own course in social affairs, and she loves the Chinese devotion to parents and children.

In either case, the Asian-themed wedding is a great way to tie your ceremony to your personal values. Perhaps the thought of such a wedding crossed your mind, but you thought you had to be Asian? In 1995, an international archaeological team excavated the tomb of the king and the princess of the ancient Jingjue Kingdom that disappeared for nearly 2,000 years in the desert of Xinjiang, China.

A piece of bright-colored brocade was found at an arm of the well-preserved mummy of the king. Besides a patterned tiger, a grass dragon used to ward off evil, a rose finch and a red-white circle representing the sun and the moon, archaeologists also surprisingly found eight Chinese characters on the brocade, which are translated as ‘five stars coming out from the east are good for China’.

This brocade, though made in thousand years ago, is still dazzlingly brilliant. It has strongly reflected the ideology and consciousness of astrology in ancient Han and Jin dynasties that impetrated prosperity and luckiness, and precisely predicted the rise of China from the east and the prosperity of the Chinese Nation. This mystical brocade has left an immense room for people to fancy.

The ‘Five-Star Brocade’ is a national first-class cultural relic. The Song Dynasty Brocade (called Song Brocade) is one of the four Famous brocades in China.

The song dynasty brocade, began to produce from the south Song Gaozong year. The song dynasty brocade has a special characteristic that the color latitude gets coloration, belongs to the latitude brocade (Sichuan brocade belongs to Longitude brocade), the craft takes three Twill weaves, two kinds after the silk (the surface is white silk, the bottom durable colored ripe silk), three kinds of latitude silk weaves (the grain and place concurrently use special-purpose color latitude).  The Nanjing Yunjin stemmed from more than 1500 years ago. It has unique craft, wove with the traditional jacquard weave wooden devices, and it can be done with a cooperation of the gardener and the weave labor , the former sit on the loom for the jacquard weave, the latter wove under the loom, with the high and low coordination, two person only could complete 5~6 centimeter Yunjin’s weaving one day. Different from the generally craft “passes after passes the latitude”, what the Nanjing Yunjin use the technology “passes the menopause latitude”, dug the face plate to weave, zhuang Jin Fucai, wove the flowerd unuaual effect, it’s to say if looked from different angle, the variety is different.
